The Science Behind Atkins Diet
The whole science behind the atkins diet is Hyperinsulinism. Hyperinsulinism is a phenomenon whereby an individual produces insulin in excess when they eat carbohydrates which in turn results in fat storage. Insulin is a hormone that controls the sugar level in our body. It is so powerful that even moderate quantities of sugar and starch will affect the nutritional balance of the body. Although the human body has mechanisms put in place that control how much hormones are produced thereby controlling its effects. But the case of insulin is different because it is produced whenever we consume starch or carbohydrates.

One notable fact is that atkins diet does not restrict the consumption of protein which is reasonable but even at no carbohydrate intake a person’s weight loss cannot fall below an ideal level.
