Atkins Diet Plan Atkins diet plan can be divided into
1. Induction Plan: this is the first stage of the atkins diet plan. It involves a severe cut down of carbohydrates to at most 20 grams per day. In this stage there is rapid weight loss and the stage is expected to last for a maximum of 2 weeks. Although you can be encouraged to continue longer but all this depends on your tolerance ability. During this stage you are expected to eat, these are carbs from vegetables, proteins and fat foods but foods containing alcohol or caffeine most especially beverages are not allowed during this stage of weight loss.
2. On-Going Weight loss Plan: in this stage, there is an on-going weight loss, in this stage carbohydrates are added to the diet carefully and slowly and weight loss cuts down to 1-2 pounds a week. This stage is often referred to as a critical carbohydrate level losing. One of the major goals of this stage is to continue weight loss at a safer rate, expand food choices and continuity of carb food at a level low enough to reduce cravings for carbohydrates.
3. Pre-Maintenance Plan: at this stage, the weight loss is slow even as more carbohydrate is added to the diet, at this stage the individual can now ascertain how much carbohydrate can be consumed without gaining weight. Atkins referred to this stage as the atkins carbohydrate equilibrium.
4. Maintenance: this stage sums up all that has been learned for the past weeks, bringing into consideration the quantity of carbohydrate expected of an individual’s consumption.
